Another crucial aspect of financing is your selection of the bank or mortgage broker that will be handling your loan. Like picking a nanny from a newspaper ad or purchasing the first car you saw on the lot, you shouldn’t work with the first person you meet in the financial industry or go with a bank simply because you have a savings account there.

It’s very important you work with someone that has exceptional knowledge of the industry, a person that practices full disclosure & knows their craft. There are many costly but avoidable mistakes that can occur throughout a transaction. These errors have consequences that can include unexpected expenses, having a purchase not close on time or even a deal falling apart completely.

There are so many factors involved in a real estate transaction that it’s imperative you work with individuals that are aware of all the different types of loan programs and options available to you. You want to work with a person who can guide you and help you make fully informed decisions. For example, do not hesitate to ask loan officers about their past experience and to provide client reviews.

In conclusion, you should be spending the time necessary vetting your loan officers. Remember, they work for you and knowing you have the best people representing you is extremely important. Stay tuned for my next post!
